There’s a new paper out that discusses the possibility that there are really four types of introversion. Not only that, but people can have more than one kind of introversion. Not only is it an interesting take for understanding people, it might be relevant when it comes to building out characters past the cliches.
It’s something worth thinking about. And I took the quiz at the end and found that I’m almost evenly split among the various types, with a slight majority in ‘Thinking’.
I know there are people in my life who will be amazed it didn’t just spit out ‘Extrovert! Get thee gone!’
Go ahead. Take the quiz. Let me know how it turned out in the comments.

I’m actually not much of an introvert. This is a real struggle when it comes to writing a novel. I loved the collaborative process of writing for theatre or a screenplay. The deafening silence of words disappearing into the ether is unnerving for me, although there is something satisfying about putting the whole thing together yourself, just the way you want to. If you collaborate, you have to have the right collaborators, particularly if it’s a big project where you’re going to get really invested in it being a particular way.
I don’t know how good I would be in a group. I was the kind of kid that would be put into a group and end up typing up the entire report with bits here and there from the others lol. All the same, anyone who knows me would call me an extrovert. Only I know the truth 😉
i scored the same as you, pretty even, but slightly higher in the Thinking category. And when I read the description, that definitely sounded like me. As is the case with you, I’m sure I know people who don’t think of me as introverted at all. As a boy, I was shy, but as I got older, by necessity I learned to interact well socially. But I live an interior life that’s very different from my external life, and the interior–more like the boy I once was–is the one that feels more “me.”
Lol! We are twins, down to our much younger inner lives.
