Merry Christmas to All!

I have been gone a while because I had to travel again and this time, I legitimately could not get to my blog to post. No time! I went to Dominica for a meeting. Beautiful island with lovely people and good food. Stayed at the Fort Young Hotel and quite loved it. My room had this view:

And was right next to this:

Was this beautiful church:

However, getting in and out of Dominica was a nightmare. Take my advice–don’t book your flights to get there the day before something, and make sure you have several days after you leave before you have to be anywhere. Chances are, you’ll get stuck in some island. Took me two days to get to Dominica instead of one afternoon, and three days to get home instead of one night flight.

But then I was home, and with only a couple of weeks to prepare, my loving sister and cousin pulled through while I was gone and did a whole lot of cleaning. So much so that when I returned, we were able to put the house away in a week or so. This was a much needed miracle, as Trinis are very house-proud during December, and everything must be spick, span and put away. If anything’s broken or needs to be repaired, this is when we do it. And I was having a big family party on Christmas Day, so we really needed everything to be perfect.

Well, everything was, and everybody enjoyed themselves, and it was truly a wonderful Christmas. I’m so happy we decided to have everyone over. My sister and I started preparing from Monday, and started cooking on Christmas Eve, so thankfully, we were all done by lunchtime on Christmas Day, as planned! There was much music and laughing and the best presents ever (I got ‘Doctor Sleep’ and new–much needed–headphones, and more clothing and spa vouchers than you could shake a stick at! And that’s just the beginning!) Then there was Matt Smith’s farewell and his last Dr. Who episode, but I won’t get into that just yet because I’m not emotionally ready.

All in all, one of the best Christmases in recent memory.

And because you weren’t there, and so you have some Christmas cheer, here’s  pic of my turkey as it came out of the oven at 12 midnight on Christmas Eve! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too, and I look forward to hearing from all of you in the New Year!
