Today a beautiful light went out.
Today, someone who knew what it was to be caged flew free for the last time.
Today a nation mourns, and the world with them.
You were an inspiration to many, including myself. You showed us the face of love and forgiveness even in a time of great evil. You helped wrest an entire country from the clutches of tyranny and then guided them through a painful, but peaceful, transition. Most of all, you did it all with malice toward none, and with the grace and intellect of a true statesman. You were the last of your kind and as surely as you were loved, you will be missed.
Blessings to you, your family and loved ones, and your country. May they honour your life and spirit in the days yet to come.
Goodbye, Madiba. After your long and difficult battle, it is time now to rest in peace.
